Homemaker

My groom-to-be has been busy with his tool-set lately, making me a home! It's so nice to finally have a place to call our home. For the past few years both of us have been moving quite a bit, I kept moving because of grad school or new work projects, he moved a lil bit too-- and we are both just so tired of it and happy to finally settle down in one place for awhile.

Anyway, I love our place but there are a few crucial things that made it difficult to sleep. Heat, noise and light. This summer has been reallllly HOT here in Hawaii and there have been many a sleepless night tossing around and (ugh) sweating. Since it's so hot, we have to keep all the windows open. Open windows means letting in air, and NOISE. Contrary to popular belief we don't live in little grass huts in the country, Honolulu is a big (loud) city. Lastly, even if you could fall asleep with the heat and the noise, you'd wake up early because of the happy tropical sun beaming in at 6am. Without any curtains, it's just BRIGHT. Anyhow, we endured it for long enough-- Alex solved all three problems after a trip to good ol' Home Depot. He installed a big curtain and a portable AC so now our apartment is like a dark, cold and luxurious CAVE. I've been late to work every day since his home improvements ;) Sleeping has vastly improved. Oh! and to make it even better, he also put in this little grill outside. So in the evenings he grills us dinner and we eat outside on our lanai(patio)... Life is good :)
